📚 The Story of Pudding Stone
Pudding Stone is a rare and beloved conglomerate unique to Michigan and parts of Ontario, made of pebbles of red jasper, white quartzite, black chert, and other minerals into a coarse quartzite matrix. They are estimated to be around 2.3 billion years old. This natural mixture resembles British suet pudding—a comparison first made by British soldiers stationed in Northern Michigan in the 1700s, giving the stone its charming name.
